Powering Person-Centered Healthcare

2018

PotentiaMetrics work on Cerebral Oximetry is published in Harvard Health Policy Review.

Based on Palmer and Dr. Theodoro’s work in the cardiac surgery space, a multi-institutional study was published in the Harvard Health Policy Review. It demonstrated that cerebral oximetry significantly reduced cardiac surgery complications, including stroke, prolonged ventilation, and renal failure. The study also highlighted the economic benefits of using the monitor. This study led to widespread adoption across the U.S., preventing an estimated 1,500 strokes, 2,000 prolonged ventilation cases, and 3,000 renal failure complications annually.
