Gregory Mayhew, PhD
Decision Modeling and Valuation Advisor
Dr. Gregory Mayhew is an accomplished engineer, scientist, educator, and quantitative analyst with expertise spanning advanced communications systems, aerospace and defense technologies, information theory, finance, predictive analytics, and decision science. Throughout his career, he has led engineering organizations, managed multidisciplinary design teams, and launched numerous technology-driven business and product initiatives across both commercial and government sectors.
Prior to academia, Dr. Mayhew worked on leading-edge aerospace, defense, and communications technologies, including Hughes Electronics and DirecTV satellite systems, Boeing guided missile programs, and advanced research initiatives at Boeing Phantom Works. His work focused on systems engineering, communications theory, optimization, advanced electronics, and mission-critical technology development for commercial and defense applications.
Dr. Mayhew is the author of seventeen technical publications and holds five patents spanning multiple technology disciplines. His career has been distinguished by the ability to bridge advanced research, engineering innovation, and practical business application, transforming complex technologies into scalable commercial and operational solutions.
He currently serves as a professor in the McKelvey School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, where he teaches and conducts research in advanced computational methods, systems engineering, analytics, and quantitative decision sciences.
Dr. Mayhew earned a PhD in Information Theory and Discrete Mathematics and a Master of Science in Digital Communications from the University of Southern California. He also earned both a Master of Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Operations Management and a Master of Finance with a concentration in Asset Pricing and Econometrics from the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis. He received his Bachelor of Science in Electronics, with a minor in Economics, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
