Marcus Thygeson, MD, MPH, is a nationally recognized physician leader and health-care innovator with deep expertise in public health, policy, and gastroenterology. Most recently the Emeritus Chief Health Officer at Surest Health Insurance, Dr. Thygeson has dedicated his career to developing solutions that improve health outcomes, enhance consumer clarity, and promote high-value care. At Surest, he led the Health team and guided the redesign of health coverage to better align with condition-based, person-centered care.

Dr. Thygeson serves on the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s Performance Measurement Committee and on the Board of Directors for the Quantum Leap Healthcare Collaborative. He received his BS summa cum laude from the University of California, Davis, his MD from Harvard Medical School, and his MPH from the University of Minnesota. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
